Photoshoot for Green Tee!

Green Tee, is a joint effort of three lazy friends in DLSU,- Nicole Cilindro (who is now in DLS- Canlubang), Darwin Borromeo and Yana Capati. It has been existent since 2009- A year after the DLSU Green Archers team had gone into the championship in the UAAP.  The designs were created by the three in cooperation with Mr. Japy Liwanag for the Splat design. Green Tee has become passionate in creating statement T-Shirts for the DLSU community. (OMG too formal for an intro, eh?) Heehee.

Yesterday was the photoshoot day for Green Tee. The idea was actually formed because of our desire to sell everything on hand. I(Alyana) personally wanted to create a site for Green Tee. As a part of the plan, I asked Win's help to also seek help to his sister to look for a person or two who'd be willing to model for a shirt, without talent fee (just for the love and free lunch!). Eventually, we thought of asking Koke Jamosale and Anton Barba (our block mates) to model for us. Gladly, they agreed.

Winwin did Koke's hair and ironed some of the clothes. Yes! I did Koke's make up. Win and Anton blew the balloons. Koke did my hair. I did my make up. These were the behind the scene shots.

The photos were taken in Intramuros' Graffiti Wall and Fort Santiago's Plaza Moriones. Thanks to the administration of Fort Santiago for allowing us to shoot there. Pictures were photographed by Win, Yana, Koke and Anton.

Great job Koke and Anton! Thank you!

Watch out for Green Tee's site. Soon!

Day 1: Dance Prompting Practice (DVBS)

When I was a kid, I used to attend Vacation Bible School in Marikina. I remember that, it was in Vacation Bible School where I learned the song - "Zacchaeus a wee little man, A wee little mas was he. He climbed up in a sycamore tree the Lord He wanted to see. The Lord passed by and said; "Zacchaeus come down! 'Cause I'm going to your house today.(2x)"" and the forever LSS "We're glad to be here at vacation bible school...". Bible School taught me a lot. It taught me lessons and gave me memories that I still carry as I journey to my life today. Memory verses and crafts will forever be cherished.

I've become a fetcher of my sister who participated in DVBS for how many years already. I've been busy doing nothing, waiting for her to finish for the past how many years. I've (almost) memorized all the praise and worship songs that they were singing as I accompany her to her group every morning. I loved the things that the volunteers were doing. I could see myself doing those also. I loved talking to the kids and to other people. Those reasons, gave me a drive to volunteer to Vacation Bible School.

Today was my first day of training for volunteering in CCF's Vacation Bible School. I was supposed to wake up at seven but my day started at 8:30 a.m. I came rushing down to the bathroom to bathe because today's call time was at nine. Thank God I arrived at CCF at around 9:15. (As to how I did that, I shan't tell anymore. Hihihi)

I thought I was very late. I was scared because today was supposedly the marshals' and teachers' training.  I was so guilty of being late. How am I suppose to teach and to lead the kids if I am late? Thanks to the people who were there to make me feel at home.

We first did devotions. I learned every leader is a also a servant. Also, I was enlightened that people aren't naturally born humble. It is more natural for a person to become arrogant, boastful, greedy, and proud, but the bible says that even if being humble is such an effort to do, we have to put on the apron of humility. I came to volunteer not to impress, nor to show off. I came to volunteer because I want to serve. :-)

I also got my handbook. This year's theme is Hero Head Quarters! I am very excited to become a teacher!

After the devotion, we've gone to one of the rooms to practice the dance and songs that will be used in DVBS. I was one of the eldest in the group (next to our mentor). My dance prompt-mates practically have ages ranging from 10 to 16, nice hanging out with the youth diba? By the way, being a dance prompter means that one has to be on stage or on the grounds to lead the children to the song every praise and worship. Our mentor said that dance prompting isn't actually dancing but it is a combination of dancing and hosting. We practiced four songs. We ended at around 12:15.

I met new friends today. All of them are younger than me. Next week, I will be attending the teachers and marshals training and I am just so excited.

Thank you Lord for giving me the drive to pursue this even if it means waking up at 7 and going to CCF alone! I have no regrets! :-) I am so looking forward to the next things to come!

So stoked and excited,
Yana

Love The Way You Lie - Me and Andrei

This was again, a music video of me and my sister for the song I Love The Way You Lie by Rihanna and Eminem. The video was created late last year. (therefore, this was long due). We often make music videos when we are bored. This is nothing but for fun. Ha Ha Ha.

It Was A Good Fight.

"Wala syang isinulat na libro, wala siyang karangalang nakuha pero yung legacy na iiwan nya. Nakatatak na sa bawat isa na andito" Those were excerpts from a Pastor when he was speaking and giving his testament at Tito (Pastor) Roel's wake. I was moved by those words. Those words even gave me goosebumps. Those made me really convinced that truly people will forget what you said and done but they will never forget how you made them feel. I was really a believer of that phrase. Mellow dramatic as I may be, I always try to look for my purpose on other people's life. I have always believed that we came to this world with a purpose. And as for me, I am still in search for my own. I know in God's time I will discover.

Tito Roel will forever be a father, a kuya, a friend to us. At 43, he has served his purpose very well. At 43, he served the Lord with all his heart. At 43, he made an impact to people's lives. At 43, he will always be remembered.

With the wake of tito Roel, we, the Lumongsods were reunited. Thank you Lord for the opportunity. It was a bittersweet moment we know, but we are thankful that finally tito Roel is in Your hands now. He is at peace.

These are pictures of the Lumongsods and the Salvadors during the 4 day wake. It was nice seeing them and bonding with them after a long time.

Thanks Tito Roel. Thank you God for reuniting us. =)

Old Manila's Finest.

Binondo- It is located in the heart of Manila. It was actually one of the centers of commerce in the Metro. For some, people tend to associate Binondo with the Chinese. True, Binondo is also synonimous to China Town. As a matter of fact, it is the oldest China Town in the World with the place being established in the 1500s.

Binondo had been a witness to many of our family's Sunday happenings for the past how many years already. We tend to go to China Town every Chinese New Year  to watch the Dragon Dance when I was a kid. We used walk from Quiapo Church, to Delicious Resto, to Eng Bee Tin Binondo, to Juan Luna, to Divisoria every Sunday when mama was still here in the Philippines. We used to buy our favorite (Mama's favorite) Sung sung peanuts in Bee Tin's grocery, and Papa's sugar-free concentrated iced tea too!

Last week, I got the chance to go to Binondo again. After a week of discovering more of the place because of Papa. Yes, so here are the cuts that were taken from the trip. Food trip actually.

First stop was at Ramon Lee's Panciteria. It took forever for me to look for this place. Thanks to my father who mastered every street of MNL. He was able to show me where the right path was, a week before we (I plus my friend, Winwin(He prefers to be called Darwin but Winwin is still better)) went there.

We ordered this MikiBihon, which was practically big enough for two people. If I am not mistaken, the food costs 185pesos (I am not really sure, sorry), but promise it wouldn't cost you 200 bucks.

We also ordered the famous Ramon Lee Chicken. Please, the chicken in the picture wasn't burnt. That was actually the color of the chicken due to its marinade. I loved the taste of the chicken skin. The meat was fine, it wasn't too dry nor too juicy. Just right. Half chicken costs less than 200. (Sorry, estimations again. Memory lapses.)

After eating at Ramon Lee, we were headed to The New Manosa, where the famous Maki is situated. New Manosa is a two storey restaurant which serves basic Chinese food. Their second floor is airconditioned ftw. They serve house tea for their patrons.

We ordered Makime ( Maki + Mami). For those who do not know. It is the sticky (super sticky infact) soup with meat strips and onion chives. It can be eaten with or without the noodles. (but I personally prefer the one with). It can also be paired with rice. It's a Chinese cuisine ofcourse. The large Makime costs 105Php (This time i am sure :P )

After eating at New Manosa, we came to buy Fried Siopao. We weren't able to take a picture of the food because it was no restaurant. It was just a store full of Chinese delicacies. Kikiam, Noodles, Fishballs, Goyong, Siomai, All for take out. I bought two pieces for 33 pesos.

After a few walks, we were headed to Eng Bee Tin which was ofcourse famous for its Tikoy and Hopia! Yehey! My friend bought a little over 3 packs of hopia for his family.

Upon buying stuff from Eng Bee Tin we went straight to 168 to have a little rest. It was one heck of a walk. After that, we went to Aranque to see puppies. Then, we went home na.

That was basically how the whole day of eating went. Super busog and lakad day from Binondo to Divi to Aranque to Morayta!

Btw, Pictures are from Winwin's phone. Thank youuu.

Alyana.
