Sunglass Cafe

Last Thursday, we went to the Quezon City hall to conduct our User Acceptability Test as a partial requirement for our thesis. We initially planned to go back to Makati at around lunch time because we planned of having a lunch out at PS Bank's Cafeteria for the Binondo Day buffet. Because everything didn't work out as planned, and because we finished our UAT at around 12:30 in the afternoon we just thought of having our lunch in our favorite cafe around City Hall, Sunglass.

Reliving 2011: I initially knew about Sunglass back in January 2011. My boyfriend-turned-specialfriend-at-this-moment and I were both broke one Sunday afternoon so we decided to just go to the Quezon City Circle (since he just lives nearby) to spend time with each other. Super simple date lang, we went biking (pedicab ha, since I don't know how to balance the real bicycle), watched kids play around and ate dirty ice cream. Those kinds of date were better than those spent in expensive places, promise. We felt hungry that's why we looked for a place to dine in, luckily we found this spot. I ordered Chicken Tapa and I remember, he ordered beef. We were surprised when the crew asked us if we wanted to have a refill of our drinks. We ordered for a cup of extra rice since there were still food left on our plate and we were even more surprise when we got our bill. Free rice refills! The meal cost at  68 pesos before, unli rice and drinks inclusive! From then on, we've become a regular customer of this humble caf.

Reliving 2011.

Spreading the word: Since Quezon City has become our stakeholder for the study that we are conducting, we had to go to the city hall every now and then to conduct interviews, researches and surveys. Because of that, I introduced the place to my thesismates, Maica, Nan and Kenneth! I think they liked the food and place naman because we keep on coming back whenever we are in Quezon City.

There! So the place is just small, good enough to house like 8 people inside, and 8 people in alfresco dining. The place has its homey feel. They also have a television to entertain their customers while waiting for their orders.

Here are the pictures to give you a sort of "feel" about the place.

They don't have this before, good thing they thought of this now. I'm sure they will be able to attract more customers.

Their Menu! Our usual orders were on the side of the menu card. Hahaha.

Charan! Our order, Chicken Tapa! Unli rice and juice for only PhP 88 pesos. You can choose from Strawberry, Iced Tea, Melon, Mango juice. They also serve the healthy organic rice even in your next rice refills!

Ops! Dunkin Donuts not included! He he

And we had two cups of rice each, happy tummy!! Thank you Sunglass!

*These photos were from @kenetwashere's blog*

Please please please try to stop by when you're around the Quezon City Circle, I promise you won't be disappointed! :)

Binondo At Chinese New Year Eve

Went to Binondo a day before the Chinese New Year and look what we have encountered!
Jam packed people wandering around the busy streets of Binondo.
Look! Eng Bee Tin had already put up a tent to cater to a huge volume of clients!
What's inside the tent? Ofcourse, Tikoys, Mochis and Hopia!
And the line starts from the outside of the store! Whew!

We were also able to come across Hongkong Fried Siopao store and really, the line was so looong! As in exaggerated! I was surprised because they were all lining up for just fried siopao. Super shocking!

Charms and Crystals were being sold everywhere.

Was able to see Ryan Bang, and funny how the people really put up their efforts to take pictures with him, it's as if they think that Ryan's Chinese. Hihi.

Super tiring but katuwa day because I was able to see how people really prepare for Chinese New year, regardless of what their Nationalities and Races are.

Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Not My Day

Thursday-  19th January 2012

The day when I tripped and rolled down the stairs  in office during break time. Most of the employees, (if not all) were able to witness my mishap. To top that off, I was wearing a really bloody red blouse, which makes me and the event really remarkable for everyone. I gained wounds and bruises from the event. Nevertheless, I learned something that day- I should've listened to my father. 'Wag masyado magpa-fasyon fasyon. And!! Really, watch your steps. ( because I was looking somewhere else when I tripped)  Ha ha.

Stay safe everyone!

Day 12 of 366: DIY Acid Washed Ripped Shorts

Out of boredom, and because I realized my denim shorts were all very worn out already, I decided to make one of my own again. This time, acid washed and ripped!

Since this one was just an experiment, and I wasn't sure of how the process would really turn out, I decided to use my first pair of Skinny jeans as the testbed.

The first step is to cut the jeans to your desired length.

My first pair of skinny jeans. Purchased it back in third year highschool
After cutting, prepare your bleaching liquid and vinegar.

Hang the jeans in a hanger and get a pail which you can use for the experiment. Put the inner part of your jeans inside the pail and pour your acid. Soak it for a little while until you see significant changes to your denim.

Rip the denim by using a sharp material (scissors or cutter will do). In my case, I used a cutter. Rip it horizontally and vertically.

Hang it and let it dry. Voila! You now have your own Acid Washed Ripped Denim Shorts!

Make yours too!

Love,

Al

Day 12 of 366: Last Day of Becoming a Bum (Technically)

Since its my last day of becoming a bum, I've decided to make my day somewhat productive. I made Melon Milk something and Chicken Curry for my family. I also made a DIY Acid Washed Ripped Denim Shorts which I'll be blogging in a little while.

So that Melon Milk something is just so easy to make. You just need a melon, a small can of evaporated milk and a sweetener. Since we are a diabetic family, we do not use condensed milk or sugar at home. As in no sugar at home, at all! So there, in our case, we just used Splenda.
The Melon, sliced
Even sliced some more. This time with milk already.
And the three sachets of splenda!
The Making of Chicken Curry

I made sankucha (I don't know the english of this) the ingredients. I already included the carrots and potatoes because I wanted them soft. The Bell Peper was a mistake, I wanted it last. Hahaha
After adding the curry powder and milk
And more chili! I wanted my curry to be a spicy one!

So we eated dinner at around 3:30 in the afternoon. OA sa aga no? But true! I had to prepare something for Drei since she's gonna review for her exams and I couldn't stand seeing her review with an empty stomach. Naks naman, ate! So there. Hihihi

Quest for Accessories!

Last Saturday (January 7, 2012), my relatives came over to Manila to fetch our aunt in the airport. Before fetching Tita Thelma, they went to our house for lunch. Since they arrived way earlier, some of them decided to go to Mall of Asia to kill time. One of my cousins decided to go to Divisoria to buy stuff that she can sell in her office. Since I was very enthusiastic with her idea. I accompanied her to the place. I introduced to her the place where I buy most of my accessories. The place is located in Tutuban. (I don't know what store number exactly but it's facing 168 na). I also accompanied her to my latest accessory store discovery inside 168. So there, let me share with you my purchases.

I got these three earrings from the accessory shop in Tutuban. I got the first pair for 30 pesos, the second one for 20p and the third pair for only 30 pesos again. They originally retail at 35p and 25p respectively but since we purchased in bulk (6 pairs ++) we got the items in a wholesale price.
I got these two for 50 pesos each. The first one was really an eye-candy because I've seen the exact item in Forever 21. It retails at 300+ there. (Btw, since all of the accessories of the said brand are from China, some of them were also being sold in the store, with the tag and corresponding dollar price at the back of the F21 tag)

I got these from my recent store discovery. I was really in search for fringe necklaces and I realized they've got everything there. I got the feather fringe necklace for 100p. They originally retail it for 120p but since we made tawad, they gave it for jut 100 bucks. I got the tassle necklace for 120p. It was originally priced at 150p. Super cheap no?

I got these bangles from the store in Tutuban. I got them for 45pesos per set. Super cheap compared to those being sold at the mall.

These rings were from the first and second store. Some of them were priced at 25p each, 35p each, 50p each and 3 for 100. The store owner in Tutuban gave us a complimentary ring box to easily organize our ring purchases!

I can't still get enough of accessories. I'm still planning to go there to buy more items, especially necklaces but for now I should first save up. I promise to go back there after doing so. But hey, if you want me to accompany you there, I would be more than willing to do that for you!

I hope you see the store for yourself too! I bet you would all be fascinated.

PS: The store crews do not encourage their customers to bring men inside the store for surely they will get bored. Hahaha.
